OPI Bubble Bath (#NLS86) and essie hi maintenance (#100) have both been covered on the blog before, but never together.
Today, we are going to show you two swatches of each nail color to give you a general idea of their differences and what they have in common.
Because these are two different brands, with two different formulas, in this comparison, we are going to focus mainly on the color and coverage differences between each shade.
Each swatch you will see below includes one coat of clear base, two coats of color and one coat of clear top lacquer.
Let the games begin -
OPI Bubble Bath
Starting with OPI Bubble Bath, one of OPI’s most popular colors, Bubble Bath is a sheer peachy pink, shown above in two coats that is very versatile and unique in the nail polish world.
You would think sheer peach nail polishes would be plentiful on the market, but we have yet to find a sheer peach pink that quite rivals this exact color. It’s creamy, neutral and still somehow manages to be both pink and sheer.
Is OPI Bubble Bath pink?
OPI Bubble Bath is in the pink spectrum, however, it is on the warm pink to peach side of the color wheel, lending it to a more neutral appearance on some skin tones and lighting situations.
It seems to pick up the undertones of the wearer, making it a great neutral pink color to have on hand.
Is OPI Bubble Bath sheer?
Bubble Bath is sheer in up to 2 coats, but it can get near-opaque once you get to 3 coats, meaning it is a buildable coverage nail polish, which gives you some flexibility with how it is worn.
essie hi maintenance
Next up is essie’s hi maintenance.
hi maintenance is a classic pink sheer that stays sheer as you build up to three coats. hi maintenance is one of essie’s sheer pinks, a facet of the color world this brand covers particularly well. Of the sheer pink nail polishes essie offers, it is one of the pinkest.
Shown above in two coats, it gives the nails a clean, crisp look. It is a good deal cooler than Bubble Bath, but is still more warm toned when compared to other pinks in essie’s line-up. Still, it is a definite pink polish that gives the wearer a polished but not overdone look.
OPI Bubble Bath is more peach pink, where essie hi maintenance is a classic pink
Both colors are sheer in up to two coats, however, Bubble Bath can build to become more opaque, where essie hi maintenance stays sheer with more coats
Bottle volume wise, OPI Bubble Bath offers more in the bottle: 0.5 fluid ounces, where essie hi maintenance offers 0.46 fluid ounces
It’s worth noting that though OPI can run a little higher price and they offer fewer coupon opportunities than essie, depending on the final market price you pay, you can sometimes end up getting a little more for your money with OPI, given the slight volume increase.
If you would like, here’s a unit price calculator you can use to do the math yourself.
Overall, OPI Bubble Bath is a peach-pink sheer nail polish and essie hi maintenance is a classic pink sheer nail polish, located more in the traditional pink realm. OPI Bubble Bath can build to greater opacity, so keep that in mind if you want that versatility, but both are sheer in up to two coats.
