White Nails are more diverse than you might expect. They can be bright, sheer, pearlescent, soft and shimmer. They’re appropriate for all seasons of the year, including winter.
Winter is a great time to wear white nails since white is the primary color for snow and ice, so it’ll give your nails a cool, frosty look. Another reason to wear white in the winter is that white nails reflect a lot of light, which will add a little brightness to the otherwise darker season.
While you may have considered white nails to be for spring and summer only, white is really an all year around appropriate shade.
Below are 6 OPI whites, from the earliest to most recently released:
OPI Alpine Snow
Shown in 2 coats, Alpine Snow is from the Original 1989 Launch Collection and it’s been OPI’s classic white cream ever since. I really like this one for nail art, especially for French Manicures.
OPI Kyoto Pearl
Shown in 2 coats, Kyoto Pearl is another OPI Icon from the 1989 Launch Collection. It’s your classic white pearl; an ideal bridal shade.
OPI Funny Bunny
Shown in 2 coats, Funny Bunny is our readers’ favorite white - it’s a soft milky white sheer from the 2007 Garden Party Collection.
OPI Suzi Chases Portu-geese
Shown in 2 coats and from the 2018 Spring Lisbon Collection, Suzi Chases Portu-geese is a creamy, opaque off white with purple to pink undertones.
This is my favorite OPI opaque white.
OPI Glazed N’ Amused
Shown in 2 coats and from the 2024 Spring Your Way Collection, Glazed N’ Amused is an off white sheer pearl with peachy red undertones. It’s very versatile. You can wear it in 1 coat over any polish to give it a glazed or frosted look; and, it has looked great over everything I’ve tried it on.
OPI Snatch’d Silver
Shown in 3 coats and also from the 2024 Spring Your Way Collection, this one looks like snowflakes in a bottle. It’s a sheer white flakie glitter with iridescent sparkle.
From opaque to sheer, cream to pearl and shimmer, white nails can take a variety of forms. My favorite whites are actually slightly off-white; I really appreciate a white with an undertone or an added sparkle of another color.
What about you? Do you prefer pure, crisp white or do you like it mixed with other tones? Do you prefer a cream or shimmer white?
