When I was a teenager, I often spent my after school job money on acrylic French Manicures.

My mom would drop my sister and I, plus any of our friends, off at the salon next to the mall. $35 dollars plus a few hours later and I’d have my nails done.

My favorite manicure at that time, in addition to the occasional airbrush designs, were French Tips.

French Tips, also known as French Manicure, are a light pink base on the nail bed, with white on the tip of the nail.

To do a French Tip Manicure, you need a sheer pink polish, a white polish and some time to focus.

In this post, you’ll see a Glazed French Tip Manicure using our readers’ favorite light pink as the base, OPI Bubble Bath, with our readers’ favorite white as the tip, OPI Funny Bunny.

The glazed part completes the look, by adding a finishing touch of sheer chrome powder, to give the French Tips an extra layer of shine and sparkle.

To get started, you will need:

Once you’ve gathered these supplies, begin your manicure by cleaning and prepping the nail bed, then applying your favorite base coat.

After your base coat dries, apply 2 coats of OPI Bubble Bath and let it dry until it’s tacky to the touch.

Next, get your favorite liner brush and use it to draw a smile line on the tip of each nail. You want to draw the line right where your nail bed meets your nail tip.

To get your smile lines to be smooth, place the hand you are working on flat on a surface and roll your nail with the brush as you apply the line. You are simply tracing your natural nail line using OPI Funny Bunny.

It’s okay if your smile line painting hand is shaky at first, it takes time to practice drawing a curved line in one fell swoop.

Visualize a smile on your nail as you paint; it helps focus and steady your painting hand. I like to imagine my nails smiling, I know it’s cheesy but it works for me to get that smooth curved line.

When your smile lines are drawn, begin painting in the rest of the nail tip using the regular bottle brush.

Wait for your first tip coat to become tacky to the touch. Repeat this process a second time for even coverage - paint your smile line first and then fill in the rest of the tip using a regular brush.

Above is what it will look like as you start filling in your white tips.

Finish filling in your French Tips and let the paint dry until it is tacky to the touch.

Finally, apply chrome powder to each nail by using the flat pad of your ring finger dipped in powder, making sure to get the entire nail covered.

After each nail is covered in chrome powder, use a makeup sponge to remove the excess powder.

Apply your top coat and this will be your finished result:
