The Suzi name OPI uses in their nail colors is inspired by OPI co-founder, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. OPI currently has 16 nail colors named after Suzi, in four different formulas - lacquer, gel, dip powder and press ons.

The company began producing “Suzi” named nail colors almost 20 years ago. Each shade was meant to represent the women in Suzi’s life and aimed to make the wearer feel more confident, chic and powerful.

Today, OPI considers the Suzi shades as representing the human element behind every OPI shade ever dreamed up.

Even though OPI’s founders sold OPI to Coty years ago, and Coty later sold OPI to an investment group in 2020, Suzi still actively participates in OPI.

She continues to be the face of the company - promoting the releases, sharing swatches on her Instagram and sharing the company’s history in Reels.

Suzi has also written a book on how OPI came into being, from where it began to what it is today. If you like beauty history, I’m Not Really a Waitress is a read that’s entertaining and worthwhile. You can get it for free on audible.

Her presence gives the brand a personable feel - without Suzi, what would OPI be? Would it be just another nameless beauty brand pumping out products?

Who can say what the answers to these questions are, but what you can say is that the Suzi shades are fun, empowering and creative.

Below are 5 Suzi shades to enjoy:

This polish is a pretty take on white. It’s an off-white cream with slight purplish, bluish and pink undertones. This color is crisp, feminine and offers even coverage in 2 coats.

Shown in 2 coats, this juicy red hails from the first full OPI Collection I ever bought - Fall 2021 Downtown LA.

My mom gave me this color when the nail blog first began as an example of the perfect “fall orange.” That it is.

From the OPI Scotland Collection, Suzi Needs a Loch-smith is a deep, creamy copper-pumpkin orange shown in 3 coats. You can wear it in 2 coats, but it intensifies at the 3rd coat.

Shown in 2 coats and from the Spring 2020 Mexico City Collection, this is a cool gold shimmer with micro silver shimmers. It’s midway between chrome and pearl with a super shiny finish.

One of my first olive green nail polishes. This shade is from the Fall 2016 Washington D.C. Collection which is full of lots of iconic OPI shades. Shown in 2 coats, it self-levels and has a creamy finish.

All in all, the Suzi shades from OPI are for every person and they add a human touch to the brand. If I was to have another Suzi polish in the collection, it would be Suzi & the Arctic Fox.
