OPI Gelato on My Mind is an OPI Classic.

It is listed as a deliciously sweet, icy cool pastel blue that happens to also lean on the side of a bright aqua-green blue. You could also describe it as a robin’s egg blue, making it a perfect color for the spring to summer seasons.

When it comes to naming nail polish, OPI tends to do it quite playfully.

Most of their shades are either plays on words or jokey phrases, which adds to the joy of both selecting your polish and disclosing the name of the shade to others.

Saying many of their names can produce a smile or a positive thought, which is always a welcome addition, especially if you enjoy your manicure routine in part for the mood-boost effects.

Instead of having a lot of my mind, with this shade, gelato is on my mind.

And isn’t gelato a nice thought?

A cool, creamy Italian Ice-like dessert is a good thing to have on your mind any day, especially if you love a cool ice cream treat, and even more so, on a warm day.

If you love pastel colors in your nail polishes, and you enjoy pastels that pop and call attention to the nail, this shade is certainly one to consider adding to your collection - it adds a pop of color to the nail that tends to draw attention from others, making this a great one to wear out and about.

Now for a few looks of this gorgeous shade -

How does this shade compare to two others that are similar?

Gelato on My Mind Vs It’s a Boy!

Gelato on My Mind is more of a bright, green-blue with yellow-green undertones where It’s a Boy! is more of a classic baby blue. Think if white was added to a deep, pure blue - It’s a Boy! is more of a traditional blue shade, but in pastel.

Gelato on My Mind Vs Mexico City Move-mint

If OPI’s Gelato on My Mind and It’s a Boy! had a child, it would be Mexico City Move-mint, which was released in the 2020 Mexico City Collection.

Mexico City Move-mint is lighter than both colors, shares Gelato on My Mind’s aqua-green lean, but is still pretty close to the baby-blue hue of It’s a Boy!

When Mexico City Move-mint is compared to just Gelato on My Mind, it’s the lighter, brighter, whiter of the two.

To get a visual of the differences between these three shades, here’s a side-by-side comparison of the bottles under a daylight lamp:

All three of these are beautiful shades, with Gelato taking the cake for the most vibrant of the three hands-down.

Overall, Gelato on My Mind is definitely a cheery pastel shade.

It is bright without being neon, making it a show-stopping yet not too audacious shade that is a certain opposite from the muted nudes you might wear to a conservative workplace.

Gelato on My Mind is a great one for summer indeed!
