Metallic nail polishes are a diverse finish group - they can be chrome, chunky-sparkly or have fine flecks and shimmer.

The one thing they have in common is that they give the nails a metal look. This metal could be any silver, copper, brass, bronze, steel, aluminum, pewter, platinum, rose gold, gold pigment or any mix of these.

For some collectors, metallics are their favorite finish group, as metals often have great reflection properties. If you love the “shine” look of fresh nails, metallic polish may be a niche to explore, since the one thing they all deliver is sparkle.

In this post, you’ll see a few swatches of metallic nail polishes, so you can get an idea of what’s out there.

Below are 5 metallic nail lacquers to consider:

Orly Pinky Promise

Orly Pinky Promise is from Orly’s Breathable line and it might be one of the prettiest polishes I've worn to date! Shown in 2 coats without a top coat, this is a metallic pink with brown and gray tones. You could also call it a metallic mauve.

Pure Ice Risk Taker {discontinued}

Shown in 2 coats, this metallic pewter nail polish is a cool light brown-toned champagne that looks like the brushed metal pieces used in interior design. You could also call it a dark gray or taupe chrome.

The Pure Ice brand was dissolved in 2018, though their shades remain popular with polish collectors.

We have found this and other Pure Ice polishes in collector destashes and sometimes, you can find Pure Ice at last stop inventory retailers like the Dollar Tree.

A similar color you may like is: L.A. Girl Gunmetal Gray

essie out of this world

out of this world is from the 2019 intergalactic metals collection. It’s a silver chrome with lilac undertones that’s opaque in 1 coat. You can wear it in 2 coats for a smoother look, but it truly is a one coat wonder.

Zoya Edyta

I have this polish listed in the inventory as a brown, but it’s so much more than that.

Described as a mix of gold, olive, blue-green and smoky gray with a sparkling metallic finish, Edyta is a dark shade with a gold-brown-green shifting metallic sparkle that gives it a complex depth. Shown in 2 coats.

OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Welcome to Sparkly City. Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is from the Fall/Winter 2010 Swiss Collection and it’s a very glitzy steel metallic glitter that’s shown in 3 coats without a top coat.

If you like dark sparkles, this one's for you!

All in all, while these metallic polishes have different finishes and tones, they’re each pretty in their own right.

Which metallic polish is your favorite?
