One of the biggest trends in the nail world this year is Soap Nails. Last year the trend was Milk Nails. Both of these manicure trends are currently popular and both of these manicures are pretty to look at and enjoy.

Soap Nails define a manicure look that gives your nails a glossy, wet, soapy nail appearance, like you just stepped out of the shower with perfectly polished and buffed nails.

These manicures are often created with glossy, sheer pink or neutral shades. To create the look, find a sheer glossy nail color that matches the undertone of your nail bed and keep your nails oiled for the duration of your manicure.

Milk Nails or milky white nails are designed to give your nails a look of being just dipped in fresh milk. These manicures are often created with sheer white polishes.

To create the look, find a white-toned ridge filling base coat, like essie smooth-e, and top it with a sheer white color for a smooth, creamy, milky look.

Both manicure looks are meant to portray a clean and fresh appearance, and they can be equally gorgeous on the nail.

To get an idea of which of these manicures looks right for you, below you’ll see swatches of a few nail colors that represent Soap Nails, followed by a few manicures that represent Milk Nails.

To end, we’ll show you a few manicures that represent a hybrid of both looks.

hi maintenance is a sheer glossy pink that can give your nails a done but not overdone look. It’s one of my favorite essie sheer pink shades.

marshmallow is one of my favorite colors to throw on my nails if I have to put something on but I don’t know what. For best results with this shade, roll the polish to mix the pigments before using and apply with the float on technique.

tuck it in my tux is a sheer ivory white. This one is an excellent option if you prefer a warmer white look.

Hybrid Manicures

To combine the Soap Nails and Milk Nails trend, your best bet is a milky pink - a sheer pink nail color with white undertones.

mademoiselle is a sheer milky pink that’s been an essie classic for a long time. It makes a great base for nail art and it can be worn alone. It provides some nail brightening, masking yellow stains on the nail bed.

vanity fairest is a sheer milky pink with a soft shimmer. It’s the shade actress Margot Robbie was wearing around the time of the Barbie premier.

All in all, Soap Nails are created using a sheer glossy polish that mimics the base tone of your nail bed, which is most likely a sheer pink or neutral; where Milk Nails are created using a sheer white or off-white polish that mimics the look of having your fingertips dipped in milk.
