What were you doing? Where were you living? What was happening in your life? What new thing or project was emerging?
This was the season OPI launched their 6 piece all pastel creams collection. A lot of years, spring collections have glitters, nudes, pearls and even vivid pinks and greens, but not this year. OPI made a bold move and went with all gentle cream shades.
Thankfully, they did step out of the box that year because they released a lot of gorgeous shades that are still relevant today.
One of their best off white creams, It’s in the Cloud, is in this collection and one of their best light peach shades, Stop it I’m Blushing! also is in this collection. And we can’t forget about It’s a Boy! and I Am What I Amethyst - two iconic blue tones.
You may ask why we’re posting pastels in the middle of summer. If so, here’s a simple fact - it’s commonly believed that pastels only trend at the height of spring around Easter, but they regularly rise in popularity in the middle of summer as well.
I personally love wearing soft pastels in the heat so I can understand why others love them too. If you’re a fan of rocking gentle shades in the hot sun, well, you’re among like minded souls.
It doesn’t matter if the pastels are 8 years old, like those from this collection, or if they’re 15 years old, pastels are a classic look and can be worn no matter what age they are.

It’s In The Cloud is an opaque, warm ivory white with coverage in 3 coats.

Stop it I’m Blushing! is a pale creamy peach nail polish that’s opaque in 2-3 coats (I’ve worn it both ways). It’s an opaque, brighter cooler-toned alternative to Bubble Bath.

One Chic Chick is opaque in 3 coats and it’s a pastel butter yellow. This is a bright shade that really pops on the hands. If you like this color, you may also like Buttafly, which was released this year in the Spring 2024 Your Way Collection.

This Cost Me a Mint is a light, pastel mint green cream offering full coverage in 2 coats. It’s a cooler toned cousin of another spring green favorite, OPI That’s Hula-rious!
OPI It’s a Boy! swatch
OPI It’s a Boy!
It’s a Boy! is a bright pastel baby blue cream with opaque coverage in 2 coats; it’s a very eye-catching light blue and has been a popular choice for the blueberry milk nails trend.
OPI I Am What I Amethyst swatch
OPI I Am What I Amethyst
Shown in 3 coats, I Am What I Amethyst is a light pale lilac to soft sweet lavender and that appears as a light periwinkle on the nail. This is my favorite spring violet.
All in all, the OPI Soft Shades Collection is a 6-piece collection, and today’s collections are 12-piece, but it still feels complete. 6 nail colors are still plenty of shades to wear plus mix and match with each other to create unique designs, like a pastel water marble.
