There’s a ‘Barbie’ movie coming out this summer!
The release date is July 21, 2023 and if you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a Barbie Teaser Trailer.
It’s surprising Barbie hasn’t had her own movie yet, but thankfully it’s finally happening and if any time is the perfect time, it’s now.
It looks fun.
The world needs something light, playful and fun right now.
To be honest though, in our eyes, the world always needs something light, playful and fun.
So in honor of the new Barbie movie coming out, today we’re going to showcase some Barbie-inspired nail polish color selections.
Before we get into the nails, let’s dive into a bit of Barbie history.
Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts.
She was first introduced to the United States in 1959 by the Mattel founders, Ruth and Elliot Handler.
Ruth was the first in the couple to have the idea for the doll.
This idea came to her when she saw her daughter playing with paper dolls of adult women and realized: adult dolls were an unfilled niche in the toy industry.
Barbie is named after Ruth’s daughter, who found it embarrassing at the time.
Ken, named after Ruth’s son, was the first friend introduced in 1961 as Barbie's ultimate accessory, then Midge and Skipper came in 1964.
Many other friends soon followed, and ever since, Barbie, and her friends, have been popular household dolls.
Now, let’s talk about Barbie nail colors.
While Barbie is free to wear any nail color she wants, “Barbie nails” are typically bright and vibrant pinks in today’s Barbie culture, known as Barbiecore.
Barbie nail polish colors can be bubblegum pink, hot pink, candy pink and glittery pink.
They’re diverse and the only thing they have in common is that they are some sort of pink that pops.
This gives you quite the playground to work with.
So without further ado, below you’ll see 6 “Barbie” pinks you could wear to re-create a Barbie look.
