Red Aspen Press On Nails, called “Nail Dashes,” are glue on artificial nails that last between 7-10 days. They’re thick, sturdy and durable - these nails definitely have the look, wear and feel of luxury press on nails.

One thing I like about the Red Aspen Press On Nails, besides their durability, is the nail dashes kit. Their press on kit comes with 30 press on nails, so it’s easy to find your size and if you mess up a few, it’s OK. Plus a cuticle stick, nail file and tube of glue.

The Red Aspen nail glue is on the thinner side, yet it’s strong and gap filling, so if you have curved nail beds, you’ll still have a perfect fit.

There’s also more than enough glue in the tube to be generous with it on each nail and still have some left over. It’s tough to say what I like the most - the nails themselves or the glue!

I decided to try Red Aspen Press Ons because we’ve been building out our press on nail content on the blog and my sister is always raving about how Red Aspen Nails are the best press ons there are on the market.

She offered to let me try a few sets after winning a Red Aspen Gift Card in a contest and I jumped at the chance.

I selected As Good As Gold, Gwendolyn and Bronze Goddess, Giada to try. Both of these sets are medium length, coffin shape and in a metallic french tip style.

Let’s take a look at what’s inside the Red Aspen Nail Dashes Box:

How To Remove Red Aspen Press On Nails

Red Aspen Press On Nails adhere strongly to the nail, but they’re not any harder to remove than other glue on nails. Here is the process I’ve used:

The Red Aspen Press On nail glue has a strong hold. The nails will not “pop off” without effort.

You do not want to remove the nails before 5 days. Wait until you start to see the press ons lifting around the nail’s edge near the cuticle line before you attempt to remove them.

Once you begin to see the press on lifting, which will likely be around 5-6 to days of wear, gently wedge a cuticle stick between the press on and natural nail to lift the press on from the nail to begin the removal process.

You can wear them longer than this, but this is the earliest I suggest removing them.

After you’ve used a cuticle stick to lift the press on from the natural nail, file the top of the press on nail to remove the shine, cut off the nail tips, and soak your nails in acetone or warm coconut oil until they pop off.

Red Aspen Press On Nails VS imPRESS Press On Nails

Compared to other press on brands like imPRESS nails, the Red Aspen Nails are thicker, glue on and have a longer-lasting hold. imPRESS nails use adhesive tabs rather than glue, and they’re thinner, so they’re more of a temporary hold.

My experience is adhesive tab nails like imPRESS have a bit more of a wiggle on the nail and they’re more permeable to water getting under them, so I find them to be a little less durable than glue ons.

Which press on nails are most similar to Red Aspen?

The KISS Acrylic line is the most similar to Red Aspen’s durability and strength, though the glues provided in the kit differ and the KISS Acrylic line has more limited design options than Red Aspen.

The included KISS glue in the set, while nice, is thinner and not as gap-filling as the Red Aspen Glue.

The KISS Acrylic line is my choice in a pinch, since you can find it at Target, but when you want a gap-filling glue and more press on design options, Red Aspen is the better choice.

All in all, after trying 2 sets, I can see what the hype is all about. The Red Aspen press on nails stay on! They do not simply pop off. They do not crack.

As mentioned above, you’ll need to exert intentional effort to remove them. You will not have to worry about being on an outing somewhere and mysteriously losing a nail.

They’re nails you can count on, making these press ons a good option when you need a press on nail set to go the extra mile (i.e. for a special event, vacation, interview or job).

If you're looking for a durable, strong, long lasting press on nail, Red Aspen Press Ons are worth it. Plus, these nails are designed for fun festivities; they’re always coming out with new seasonal designs.
