It’s part of the classics collection and when wearing it, you might think of the movie, The Barefoot Contessa.
The Barefoot Contessa is a Humphrey Bogart and Ava Gardner film which starts out in Madrid, Spain. The main character, Ava Gardner, known as Maria Vargas in character, is “discovered” in a night club and brought to America to “make it” big.
Vargas has a personality quirk where she is barefoot, even when it is not necessarily appropriate to be so - on dirty city streets, for example. This piece is part of her signature style as a character.
It is nearly opaque in one coat, though two coats really does cover any imperfections in the nail bed to make this color sparkle.
Application is very smooth, it self-levels nicely, allowing you to not overwork it. You can just apply it normally, and watch it fill in any gaps you may have missed on its own.
It has the same neutral creaminess of Icelanded a Bottle of OPI, though it is a much warmer toned, almost terracotta shade in comparison.
This color is a hybrid between a deep, rose-pink and a red-toned brown. It is quite a creamy neutral shade, great for warmer toned skin types. If you are looking for a go-to neutral nail polish, you like pink nail polish and brown nail polish, but need something in-between, this color is it.
Whenever you look at this color, the first thing you think about is that classic movie, and then, “oh, that’s really nice.” It’s just really pretty. Barefoot in Barcelona is one of those colors, like The Barefoot Contessa movie, that feels like a timeless classic.
